Tea for One Sets
The term ‘Tea for One’ has its origins in British tea culture of the 18th and 19th centuries. During this time, the tradition of afternoon tea was widespread and an important part of social life. The term Tea for One refers to the practice of serving tea for a single person rather than for a larger group. Today, Tea for One remains a popular concept used in tea houses and households worldwide. It symbolises a little time out for yourself, a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to enjoy a moment of peace and relaxation with a cup of tea.
For this pleasurable hour, Holst Porcelain manufactures various types of combination sets consisting of a cup, saucer and a pitcher made of genuine feldspar porcelain.
A very thin tea cup is only suitable for tea drinking if the filling quantity is very small (3 to 10 cl) and the tea is drunk immediately after pouring. The permanent re-pouring is then done by a samovar or a teapot, which is placed directly over a heat source (oven/warmer). With all due respect – we don't drink tea like that today.
The same reactions that have been proven to occur with coffee (caffeine) also occur with tea (theine and tea oils). The longer it stands, the more bitter the flavours become. A rapid cooling process promotes the negative taste development and changes or spoils the enjoyment of tea. And it is a myth that only the unglazed rim of a wafer-thin tea cup enhances the taste of the tea.
A tea cup made from a semi-strong body not only offers the same taste profile, but also keeps the tea warm for longer and protects the aroma of the tea over a much longer period than a thin tea cup.
The tea sets from Holst Porcelain are made of high-quality feldspar porcelain and combine the mineral raw materials kaolin, quartz and feldspar at over 1,320 °C in the fire to form the needle mullite that only occurs in porcelain, which gives the ceramic body its incredible density and stability. The quartz glaze protects the body from corrosion, scratches and cuts and is resistant to chemical attack. Porcelain is by far the best material for enjoying tea and does not absorb any residues or colour changes.
Only genuine porcelain offers complete peace of mind when drinking tea! Whether you are ill, have allergies, are vegan or highly sensitive, you are all safe and protected with porcelain pots and cups.
