Large porcelain bowls with a capacity of 2 to 3 liters or more are used in practice more as buffet and display bowls on large tables. Mostly to round off existing bowl series towards the top. From two-liter bowls on, the price difference to the much cheaper ceramic bowls is considerable. The benefit of large porcelain bowls is often called into question. However, only high-fired porcelain bowls made of hard porcelain are given the many advantages of catering porcelain and should not be compared or even confused with much cheaper ceramic bowls. Because the larger a display or serving dish is, the more sensitive it is to breakage and edge chipping. And suddenly the price difference becomes small again when such serving elements show cracks and chipped edges after only a short period of use.
Many of our customers keep asking us what size distinguishes a porcelain bowl from a porcelain bowl. The term bowl is commonly used for bowls of this size and larger. From the history of porcelain we interpret that a bowl was and should be dedicated to use and a bowl to presentation. Therefore we still speak of a mixing bowl and not of a mixing bowl. Also from the point of view of sensation, washbowl sounds far less elegant than buffet bowl. Accordingly, bowl and bowl are separated by a form of value and elegance.
